First snow, short day
Ten centimetres overnight changed a familiar loop into a new one. We turned back at the fixed chain and don't regret it.

The first real snow came on a Friday night. By morning the familiar loop behind the village had become a different walk entirely: quiet, bright, and slower than we planned.
The fixed chain on the rocky step below the top was glazed with ice. We looked at it for a while, agreed that the view from where we stood was already very good, and turned back. The summit will be there in spring.
Hot tea from the flask, a dry pair of socks in the car. The best equipment is still the kind you leave in the boot.
